While promoting her new Broadway production The Fear of 13, Tessa Thompson delivered a masterclass in contemporary dressing, proving that sustainability can be just as captivating as high fashion. The actress stepped out in a beautifully crafted patchwork dress by emerging designer Giovanna Flores, embracing one of fashion’s most important movements: conscious craftsmanship.

The effortlessly draped design stood out for its eclectic combination of prints and textures. Soft pink polka dots, purple geometric motifs, swirling botanical patterns, and vibrant marigold florals came together in a harmonious collage of color and design. Separating the various prints were rich wine-red silk panels, adding depth and elegance to the silhouette while highlighting the artisanal nature of the garment.

What makes the look even more remarkable is its sustainable foundation. Every section of Thompson’s dress was created using upcycled materials, a signature element of Giovanna Flores’ design philosophy. The designer has built a growing reputation for transforming deadstock and recycled textiles into one-of-a-kind garments that blend creativity with environmental responsibility.

Flores’ commitment to slow fashion has already attracted a notable following among Hollywood’s style risk-takers, including Greta Lee and Ayo Edebiri. Their support has helped position the label as one of the most exciting independent brands to watch in today’s fashion landscape.

Thompson complemented the statement dress with understated accessories, allowing the craftsmanship to remain the focal point. Cream low-heeled pumps, a slouchy shoulder bag, sleek rectangular sunglasses, and delicate layered rings completed the ensemble with effortless sophistication.

Licence Magazine’s Take

At Licence Magazine, we believe Tessa Thompson’s look represents the future of luxury fashion where creativity, individuality, and sustainability coexist. Giovanna Flores demonstrates that upcycled fashion does not require compromise; instead, it can result in pieces that feel unique, artistic, and deeply relevant to the cultural conversation. In an industry increasingly focused on responsible production, this look serves as a powerful reminder that sustainable fashion can be both innovative and undeniably chic.
